Leejoo Hwang

Co-Founder & Business Development

Leejoo Hwang is a second-year student at Simon Fraser University pursuing a certificate in Sustainable Community Development and a BBA in Sustainable Business, a joint major program between the Faculty of Environment and the Beedie School of Business. Leejoo comes from a background of non-profit and grassroots organizations. He founded Local Development Group, an organization dedicated to tackling community issues through highschool student ideas. As a collective Local Development Group, they were able to initiate projects such as the Fraser Heights Little Free Library, two community gardens, an annual community block party, and even fun-raisers such as a League of Legends Tournament. Through Local Development Group, Leejoo helped students fund their ideas through a sum of over $10,000 in grants and helped them to develop the skills necessary to become future leaders. Through the skills that they developed, individual members were able to win a sum of over $100,000 in scholarships towards their post-secondary education. Today, Leejoo sits as a member of the City of Surrey’s Diversity Advisory Committee as well as Health Canada’s Action Committee. He is a Junior Team Canada Ambassador and holds a position as Project Development Manager in Enactus SFU
